Hand Dyed Wool in SW19 Green

These absolutely delicious hanks of crewel wool are hand dyed by The Yarn Whisperer in his Margate studio just for us.  I asked him to create a variegated green that echoes the grass courts in my neighborhood, Wimbledon.

This wool provides light coverage on 18 as a single strand or full coverage on 13 when doubled up.  Andrew aka the Yarn Whisperer dyes these on a base of Appletons wool, which is proudly made here in the UK.

Each hank of crewel wool is 180 meters long (196 yards).  I stitched (in basketweave) my large tennis court clutch with this fiber and used most of one hank, so it goes very far - hence the photo with a diet coke for scale!  On the second photo the canvas I'm stitching there is my glasses case tennis court.
